Project Description
Plate: 3 hybrid birds
ALCORA
Hacia 1735-1760
Plate with an unusual two-tone profile consisting of a thick blue band and a thin red line. The decoration responds to the most characteristic patterns of the Chinese style, with three large plant motifs that start from the edge, alternating with three other minor motifs in perfect harmony. The central scene is made up of a grotesque character with human legs, a bird’s body, a hoof as a left hand, a bird’s head with a long beak and wing-shaped ears; he holds a stick and a bird rests on its beak. To his right, two mammal-headed wading birds, one with a goat’s beard and the other covered with a headdress.
